ASHLAND
– The Southern Oregon women's soccer team took the lumps it expected while playing four NCAA Division II teams in a row over the last two weeks, going 0-3-1 following the first 3-0 start in team history.

This weekend, the Raiders (3-3-1 overall) hope to see the dividends of being battle-tested when they start Cascade Collegiate Conference play at Raider Stadium. The Corban Warriors (5-4, 1-1 CCC) visit at 3 p.m. Friday, and the Northwest Christian Beacons (4-5, 1-1) are in town for a 4 p.m. matchup Saturday.

SOU and its travel partner, Oregon Tech, will be the last to start CCC play due to a quirky conference schedule. But thanks to those same quirks, the Raiders will play seven of their 11 CCC contests at home this season as opposed to the seven they played on the road when they went 7-4 in 2015.

Briefly:
– In their first three games (against all NAIA competitions), the Raiders outscored opponents 11-1. In their last four, they were outscored 9-2. Dating back to last season, they've won 10 straight games in which they've scored multiple goals.
– SOU's 0-0 tie last Friday against Saint Martin's (Wash.) marked its first point taken from a NCAA DII team since a draw against Cal State Monterey Bay on Aug. 28, 2013.
– Against NAIA opponents, the Raiders are 10-3-1 since Sept. 25 of last year. They've also had the advantage in shots in all 14 of those games.
– The Raiders are 4-4-2 during CCC-opening weekends over the past five seasons. They'll be shooting for a 2-0 start for the first time since 2000, the program's inaugural season.
– Nine different players have gotten in on the team's total of 13 goals. Megan McArthur and Lauren Aldana have three apiece, while McArthur and Presley Lambert lead the team with two assists each.
Megan Smith has started 43 consecutive games for the Raider defense dating back to the start of the 2014 season. During that span, SOU has shut out 12 opponents and limited 14 more to one goal.
Kylie Moltzen, SOU's all-time shutouts leader at goalkeeper, is up to 17 ½ for her career.
– McArthur ranks eighth in Raider history with 14 goals and Lambert ranks 11th with 11.

About Corban:
– The Warriors lead the all-time series against SOU, 19-6-2, and won last year's meeting in Salem, 1-0.
– They went 4-6-1 in the CCC last year for a seventh-place finish, and were picked to finish seventh again in 2016.
– They had a three-game win streak snapped last week against Carroll, 2-1, but have outscored opponents 17-14.
– Lexi McQueary leads the team with four goals and three assists, while Ali Oatridge and Randi Donahue have scored three goals apiece. Keeper Sheyenne Brusven was a second-team All-CCC selection in 2015.
– Head coach Likius Hafeni is in his first season after taking over for 20-year coach Marty Ziesemer.

About Northwest Christian:
– SOU is 9-0-1 all-time against the Beacons and won last year's meeting, 1-0, in Eugene.
– The Beacons lost to defending CCC champion Carroll (1-0) and defeated Great Falls (3-0) last week.
– They went 2-9 in the CCC last season, finishing in 10th place, and were picked to finish 11th this year.
– They've outscored opponents 16-10, led by Emily Miller (5 goals, 1 assists), Maddi Bartholomew (2 goals, 2 assists), Sami Wilson (2 goals, 2 assists) and Sierra Graton (3 assists).
– Head coach Jessica Cardwell is in her second season.
