Altemus, #9 Raiders rout Multnomah for 12th straight win

PORTLAND – Freshman wing Sophia Altemus used No. 9 Southern Oregon's 86-43 win over Multnomah as a platform for her best night yet as the Raiders ran their winning streak to 12 games without issue Friday at Lytle Gym.

One outing removed from pulling down a season-high 11 rebounds, Altemus shot 8-of-13 from the field and 3-of-5 from 3 to score a season- and game-high 19 points. She and sophomore Daranda Hinkey, who had 10 points and five assists, led SOU (19-1 overall, 11-1 Cascade Conference) to a 51-12 advantage in bench points.

Kenadee Honaker, another freshman reserve, totaled seven points, five steals and four rebounds to help the Raiders force 31 turnovers and hold the Lions (1-22, 1-12) to 29-percent shooting from the field.

Toria Bradford had 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting – her sixth double-digit output in seven games – to go with three steals, and Ariel Augustine chipped in 10 points.

Leading 24-19 a minute into the second quarter, the Raiders blew the game open by taking a 21-2 run into halftime. Hinkey scored all of her points in the quarter, hitting a pair of 3-pointers.

SOU remained one game behind first-place Eastern Oregon in the loss column and two up on third-place Northwest Christian. The Raiders play at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Warner Pacific, which dropped to 6-7 in the CCC with a 64-59 loss to Oregon Tech.
