SPRINGFIELD – The Northwest (Wash.) women's soccer team ended Southern Oregon's season in the quarterfinal round of the Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank, 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Willamalane Sports Complex.
The No. 5-seeded Eagles (9-8-2 overall) took control with two first-half goals. Katie Michkiosky scored her league-leading 19th goal in the 18th minute from 18 yards out, taking an assist from Sharaya Roberts, and Rylee Rassier struck in the 30th minute with an assist from Bailey Travis.
SOU, the No. 4 seed, finished up at 9-5-3 overall. It was the team's third straight winning season.
The Raiders were out-shot, 8-5, and only put two shots on goal against keeper Kat Sanchez. SOU's
Kailey Lemon made four saves.
NU and SOU tied their regular-season game, 1-1 at Raider Stadium, but the Eagles have won three consecutive matchups in the postseason.
The game was the last in the careers of five Raider seniors:
Daisy Cervantes,
Macaylea Mitchell,
Simone Schroder,
Maddy Spangler and
Makena Totushek.
