ASHLAND – In dual action Thursday night at Riehm Arena, the Southern Oregon University women's wrestling team topped Providence (Mont.), 13-10, but the Raiders were shut out 51-0 on the men's side with a shorthanded lineup.

There were three women's contests on the night, two of which went to the Argos. But in addition to two forfeit victories, the Raiders (8-6 overall) got 123-pounder Raina Tschantre's 12-9 upset of 14th-ranked Angelica Sletten for her first collegiate dual win.

For Providence, third-ranked Yurie Yoneoka pinned Nikki Jeanson in 1:40 and top-ranked Dajan Treder won by 10-0 technical fall against Kirra Saunders in 1:15.

Five forfeits put the Raider men (4-5) in a 30-point hole against the fourth-ranked Argos.

Some of the Argos' top wrestlers did the rest: Chris Mesa won by 11-5 decision over Trey Long at 133, sixth-ranked Shonn Roberts pinned Hunter Roberson at 149, second-ranked Adrian Lyons-Lopez pinned Cody Stahl at 165, and 12th-ranked Randy Keesler held on for a 3-2 win over 18th-ranked CJ McKinnis with a third-round takedown at 184. In the heavyweight match, SOU's 17th-ranked Max Hane cut an eight-point deficit to 11-9 against fourth-ranked Matt Hopkins but couldn't pull even in the final seconds.

SOU's men will travel Saturday to Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) for another dual. The women will be at the Oregon Wrestling Classic on Friday and Saturday in Redmond.
