ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University softball team hasn't lost consecutive games since 2017 and kept that fact intact by sweeping the second half of its four-game set against Eastern Oregon, 4-0 and 11-6 on Saturday afternoon at University Field.
After dropping Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader, the third-ranked Raiders (14-3 overall, 2-1 Cascade Conference) bounced back in the opener behind

Hannah Shimek went 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI and
Allie Stines had a pair of doubles, two runs and three RBI.
Stines, a junior catcher, finished 5-for-11 with four doubles, a triple and three walks in the series. Shimek, a sophomore second baseman, extended her on-base streak to 33 games dating back to last season.
Sandoval (8-1) didn't allow an earned and gave up just seven hits with 13 strikeouts over 16 2/3 innings during the series. The shutout was her fourth of the season and she pitched the final 2 2/3 of Game 2, striking out the side in the final frame to seal the win. Her ERA dipped to 1.34.
The Mountaineers dropped to 2-12 overall and 1-2 in the CCC.
In Game 1, Shimek walked and stole a base in the first inning and came in to score a back-to-back wild pitches. The Raiders tacked on another in the second on

Leeper went 5-for-11 with two runs and two RBI in the series.
EOU starter Amanda Smith gave up just four hits in a complete game but walked three, hit a batter and threw three wild pitches.
In the first inning of Game 2, 10 of the first 11 Raiders to bat reached safely as
Olivia Mackey, Morehead-Hutsell, Stines and Shimek finished the rally with consecutive RBI hits. Mackey went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the game and
