Villegas notches hat trick as Raiders skate by Pacific Union

ATHERTON, Calif. – Southern Oregon scored in double figures for the fourth time in team history and freshman Adrian Villegas tallied all three of his goals during a second-half onslaught in the No. 13 Raiders' 10-0 trouncing of Pacific Union on Friday at Wunderlich Field.

The Raiders (1-1-0) set a new single-half team record with nine goals in the second period, including four in the first 10 minutes. Villegas had all three of his unassisted and added an assist, matching SOU's single-game points record that Noah Addie established as a freshman last year.

Raider senior Jared Delaney also had his first multi-goal game to go with an assist, and Daniel McDevitt added two goals and two assists. Brendan Allen accounted for SOU's first-half score while Austin Mahoney and Kevin Nevinger tacked on in the second.

Roberto Lupera and Sam Walker were also credited with an assist apiece.

SOU outshot Pacific Union 35-1, though Pioneers keeper Carlos Baez made nine saves in the first half.

The Raiders are off until their home opener, at 1 p.m. on Sept. 1 against UC Merced.
