SOU completes sweep of back-to-back against Wolves

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – With a series sweep of Walla Walla (Wash.) in the books, the 18th-ranked Southern Oregon men's basketball team can rest easy this weekend before its archrival comes to town.

The Raiders made up for a sluggish start, which saw them fall behind 18-13 with seven minutes left in the first half, with a 21-0 charge that gave them control for good in an 86-49 Cascade Conference defeat of the Wolves on Friday afternoon at Windemuth Court.

Tate Hoffman put up 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Aaron Borich totaled 12 points, four assists and two steals. Teron Bradford had 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists, and Jordan Hunt added 11 points and seven boards as SOU dominated the painted area with a 44-14 advantage inside.

The win – SOU's second in less than 24 hours against the Wolves – set the Raiders (12-4 overall, 6-2 CCC) up for a key home game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against second-ranked Oregon Tech, which will enter the contest at 4-2 in CCC play.

The Raiders have won four straight and seven of their last eight overall.

They fell behind early by misfiring on 11 of their first 15 attempts from the field, but got loose in transition to shoot 8-of-9 during the game-turning run and went into halftime leading 36-21. Borich started the 50-point second half with a 3-pointer on the Raiders' first possession.

Borich, Hoffman and Hunt have hit double figures together in each of SOU's last four games. They've averaged a combined 55 points on 67-percent shooting during that stretch.

Jake Virga checked in with eight points and two steals off the bench, and Tez Allen had seven points and seven rebounds.

The Wolves dipped to 5-13 overall and 3-5 in the CCC. They got 18 points from Zayne Browning but were held to a collective 29-percent clip from the field – the lowest for a Raider opponent this season.
