SAN FRANCISCO – Southern Oregon 184-pound junior
Josh Hammers captured third place and 125-pound freshman
Lorenzo Vasquez placed fourth Saturday at the California Collegiate Classic, hosted by San Francisco State at The Swamp.
Hammers went 4-1 on the day, starting with a 10-4 decision over Simon Fraser's Mason Miethe and a pin with 11 seconds left in the third period against Western Washington's Camden Bach. After he was pinned in the semifinals, he took a 10-6 decision from Simon Fraser's Doug Peyser and won the third-place match by forfeit.
Vasquez – fresh off Friday's upset at Menlo of the 11th-ranked 125-pounder in the NAIA – stayed hot with three wins by fall and another by forfeit. He reached the quarterfinals by pinning Exequiel Villeda in two minutes, and in the consolation bracket pinned two Vanguard (Calif.) opponents, Andrew Silva and Nathan Yanez, consecutively. His third-place match resulted in a 1-0 loss to Cal Baptist's Keanu Perez.

Matt Peterson (141) earned three straight consolation victories with two by fall.
Tanner Sallee (174) won his first two matches of the day to reach the quarterfinals, and
