SOU blows out Lions by 42

PORTLAND – The 18th-ranked Southern Oregon men's basketball team overmatched Multnomah on Saturday night and left Skagen Court with a 117-75 win, marking its widest margin of victory in a Cascade Conference contest in 13 seasons.

Tate Hoffman poured in 27 points and 11 rebounds on 12-of-16 shooting to highlight the Raiders' highest-scoring output since putting 119 on the Lions three years ago, registering his third double-double and going over the 20-point mark for the fourth time in five games.

Hoffman and Jordan Hunt, another senior forward who scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, took advantage of a significant size disparity inside. But outside, the Raiders shot 15-of-35 from 3-point range, giving them 15-plus on back-to-back nights for the first time in Brian McDermott's 24 seasons as head coach.

Aaron Borich went 6-of-10 from downtown, making him 11-of-20 on the weekend, to finish with 18 points, six assists and six rebounds. Tez Allen exploited Multnomah's zone defense with 11 assists – matching the highest total for any Raider in the last four seasons – to go with six points and eight boards.

The Raiders, who improved to 10-4 overall and 4-2 in the CCC, posted a 56-25 advantage on the glass.

The Lions dipped to 6-8 and 0-5 in conference action, though they enjoyed a 39-33 lead before SOU ended the first half with a 22-7 surge.

The Raiders continued to pour it on after the break, where Kiefer Edwards recorded all of his 10 points and six rebounds. Hunter Bradford matched Edwards in both categories and shot 3-of-6 from deep.

The Raiders shot 56 percent overall (45-of-80), their best clip of the season. They went over the century mark for the third time in four outings.

SOU will play back-to-back games at Walla Walla (Wash.) next Thursday and Friday before coming home to face rival Oregon Tech on Jan. 14.
