ATHERTON, Calif. Tanner Sallee captured third place at 174 pounds and fellow freshmen Jacky Hawkins and Cylus Hoke turned in fourth-place efforts for Southern Oregon University on Saturday at the Menlo Open.

With a 4-2 decision over San Francisco State's Maleselino Salt in his third-place match, Sallee upped his season record to 17-6. After dropping his first match of the tournament, Sallee won five in a row with a pin, three decisions and an injury default in the consolation bracket.

The Raiders finished fourth of eight teams with eight or more competitors. SF State claimed the team title, edging Clackamas Community College and Menlo (Calif.).

Sallee was responsible for 13 of SOU's 82 points and Hawkins, competing at 157 pounds, scored a team-high 14. He scored bonus points in all four of his wins, recording a pair by fall, and stayed alive after dropping his quarterfinal match with three straight consolation victories. He was pinned in the third-place match by Arizona Christian's Cole Drescher in the second round.

Hoke went 3-2 at 197 and earned all of his victories consecutively in consolation action, sandwiching a pin with two decisions. His third-place match was a 3-0 loss to Clackamas' Kyle Richards.
