Raiders hit 13 3-pointers to complete sweep of Owls

KLAMATH FALLS – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team saved its best offensive night in a few years for Oregon Tech on Tuesday to steal a key 94-89 Cascade Conference win from Danny Miles Court.

Sophomore guard Dominique Harding led five players in double figures with 19 points as the Raiders put up more points on OIT than any opponent this season, hitting at a 55-percent clip with a 13-of-25 mark from three. The field-goal percentage was their highest since 2016-17, and they hadn't shot 50 percent or better from beyond the arc with 13 or more makes since that same campaign.

The win – and the completion of their first regular-season sweep of the Owls (15-11, 9-7) since 2015-16 – allowed the Raiders (17-8, 13-5) to keep their spot in third place heading into their last two regular-season games, Feb. 21-22 against Multnomah and Warner Pacific in Ashland.

Daranda Hinkey hit 3-of-4 from downtown, and she and Kami Walk scored 13 apiece. Kalei Iwami went 4-of-6 with a pair of 3-pointers, and she and Bryanna Raff, who shot 6-of-7, both scored 12. Syd'Nee Fryer totaled nine points, five steals and five rebounds, and her 3-pointer with five minutes to play gave SOU its biggest lead at 82-70.

The Raiders were down as many as seven in the third quarter. They trailed 54-51 before 3s from Iwami, Sparling and Harding in a two-minute span put them up four. Izzy Hernandez hit another before the third-quarter buzzer to make it 67-63.

SOU opened the fourth with a 15-7 charge, capped by Fryer's dagger from the corner. Hinkey hit one more with 30 seconds to go to push the advantage to seven and Harding went 3-of-4 from the line to close the game.

The Owls matched the Raiders offensively for most of the night, connecting on 56 percent of their field goals, but hit six fewer 3s. Abby Kreiser had 22 points and six assists and Makaila Napoleon had 18 points and five rebounds.

OIT guard Kristin Farrell, the reigning CCC Player of the Week, was limited to seven points on 2-of-7 shooting.

Delaney Sparling added a 2-of-3 outing from deep for the Raiders and finished with eight points. Raff added three steals.
