ARCATA, Calif. – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team matched NCAA Division II opponent Humboldt State (Calif.) blow-for-blow but let an eight-point lead slip away over the final eight minutes of a 75-67 exhibition loss Friday night at Lumberjack Arena.
Sophomore forward
Kami Walk posted game-highs of 18 points and nine rebounds for the Raiders, who were on the court for the first time in 19 ½ months in
Carlotta Kloppenburg-Pruitt's debut as head coach.
Walk's bucket inside had SOU up 58-50 with 9:24 to go before the Lumberjacks put together a 15-2 run. They led 68-64 with a minute to play when Jadence Cliftron put the game away with a 3-pointer.
Clifton led four Lumberjacks in double figures with 14 points.
Raider guard
Dominique Harding had 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting before fouling out,
Kalei Iwami scored 11 and
Syd'Nee Fryer had eight to go with six boards.
Both teams shot 25-of-55 from the field but the Raiders were haunted by 20 turnovers.
They'll play another exhibition on Nov. 6 at Boise State and have their first counter of the season at home on Nov. 8 against Simpson (Calif.). A season preview will be published next week.
