BOISE, Idaho – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team showcased its defensive potential Saturday in a 62-49 exhibition loss to Boise State at ExtraMile Arena.
The Raiders forced 22 turnovers and limited the Broncos, members of the NCAA Division I Mountain West Conference, to 36-percent shooting. With 8:28 left in the game SOU had the deficit down to five points on a
Dominique Harding jumper that made it 46-41.
The Broncos pulled away from there, going on a 14-2 run, but over the final three quarters combined they shot just 13-of-42 from the field.
Sophomore forward
Kami Walk turned in another strong exhibition outing with 18 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Raiders.
Dominique Harding had seven points and four rebounds, and
Kenadee Honaker pulled down a team-high eight boards with two steals.
The Raiders' shooting struggles kept them from fully closing the gap. They went 4-of-22 from 3-point range and 11-of-23 at the line.
Mary Kay Naro's 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists led Boise State.
The Raiders will be home for their first counter of the season at 7 p.m. Monday against Simpson (Calif.).
