ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's 10th consecutive win wasn't the prettiest of the bunch, but the 63-45 defeat of Corban Saturday at Lithia Motors Pavilion induced minimal stress and kept the Raiders alone in first place in the Cascade Conference.
Sophomore forward
Kami Walk had 18 points, six rebounds and four steals as SOU went to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the CCC. She was 10-of-12 at the free-throw line with better luck there than the Raiders had from the field, where they hit at a 36-percent clip and went 4-of-25 on 3-pointers.
They neutralized those issues with advantage of plus-12 in both turnovers forced (26 to 14) and offensive rebounds (15 to 3). Those translated to 23 more field-goal attempts for the Raiders than the Warriors (1-11, 0-5).
SOU point guard
Brianna Phiakhamngon capped an stellar weekend with 10 points and four assists.
Syd'Nee Fryer had seven points, five rebounds and four steals.
Kalei Iwami and
Clara Robbins combined for 14 bench points. Robbins, a freshman forward, also totaled a season-high four blocks.
Holly Golenor recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, four steals and two blocks for the Warriors and reserve Kaci Paffhausen scored 12.
They shot 39.5 percent from the field, making them the sixth SOU opponent in seven games to finish below 40 percent.
Eight of the Raiders' 10 wins during their streak have been decided by double digits. Walk has led them in scoring in eight of them.
When they return to action after a holiday break, they'll be on the road in CCC play for the first time – Dec. 31 at Evegreen (Wash.) and Jan. 1 at Northwest (Wash.).
