ASHLAND –
Mason Whittaker hit four 3-pointers and
Tez Allen and
Josh Meyer logged two more double-doubles as Southern Oregon completed a series sweep of Multnomah with a 67-40 Cascade Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
Whittaker, a freshman guard from Sparks, Nev., scored a season-high 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting from downtown and grabbed six rebounds. Meyer registered 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for his third double-double of the season, and Allen turned in his second in as many days with 11 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
Josh Washington was the fourth player in double figures with 10 points for the Raiders, who evened their record at 2-2.
The Lions (0-6 CCC) slowed down the pace of the game but couldn't overcome a 27-percent clip from the field that led to their season-low point total.
Allen hit a pair of 3-pointers during a 10-3 spurt that took the Raiders into halftime up 29-20. Early in the second half, 3-pointers from Whittaker,
Brad Allen and
Hunter Bradford keyed a 13-2 surge that pushed the Raider lead to 20.
Brad Allen scored nine off the bench and Bradford chipped in six on a pair of triples.
Tez Allen hit all six of his 3-point attempts on the weekend, sinking three both days.
Andrew Classen's 15 points led Multnomah.
The Raiders will be home again next weekend to play Corban, tipping off at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
