SOU wraps up spring slate with 95-93 win over Mountaineers

LA GRANDEJosh Meyer put up 30 points and 11 rebounds and Southern Oregon finished its spring season on a high note, winning 95-93 against Eastern Oregon on Saturday at Quinn Coliseum.

Statistics were not provided by EOU until late Monday.

The Raiders completed their condensed Cascade Conference schedule at 7-3 with a road sweep of the Mountaineers.

Meyer's sixth double-double and third in a row was complete with a 12-of-17 performance from the field. The junior forward from Seattle finished the spring as CCC's fourth-leading scorer (17.3 points), its top rebounder (9.4), and a 56-percent shooter. The 30-point, 10-rebound performance was his second.

In the second half against EOU, Meyer scored 21 points and Jake Virga shot 5-of-6 from downtown, helping the Raiders take the lead for good with 11 minutes left.

Virga finished with 17 points, three assists and three steals. Tez Allen had nine points, a season-high 10 assists, and seven rebounds. And freshmen Elijah Jackson and Mason Whittaker scored 12 apiece, with Whittaker adding six assists.

Allen's assist total put him in a tie for first in the conference in that category, ending the spring with a clip of 5.5 per game.

Hunter Bradford contributed six points and Brad Allen had five in the finale. They helped the Raiders shoot 51 percent as a team and erase what had been a 13-point deficit 12 minutes into the contest.
