ATHERTON, Calif. – The Southern Oregon men's soccer team will enter Cascade Conference play with a pristine record intact after concluding its nonleague schedule with a 3-1 win over Menlo (Calif.) on Saturday afternoon at Wunderlich Field.
The Raiders are off to a 4-0 start for the first time in the program's brief history and snapped a three-game skid in their head-to-head series with the Oaks (1-2).
Junior forward
Alan Gaytan tallied for the third straight outing, finding the net unassisted in the 52nd minute to replenish the Raiders' the two-goal cushion after Levin Ledergerber's penalty kick cut their advantage to 2-1 in the 36th.
Luis Navarrete put SOU in control with a goal in the ninth minute, his second of the season courtesy of
Moises Hernandez's second assist. In the 26th,
Joao de Santos converted a penalty kick to make it 2-0.
The Raiders have scored multiple goals in all four games, cumulatively outscoring their opponents 10-2.
Liam Kalhagen got the keeper victory. He made three saves and faced 11 shots.
The Raiders will open CCC play at home next week, facing Evergreen (Wash.) on Friday and Northwest (Wash.) on Saturday at Raider Stadium. Both matches start at 1 p.m.
