MERCED, Calif. –
Mia Santander and
Sarah Mauk deposited first-half goals and sent the Southern Oregon women's soccer team into Cascade Conference play on a high note with a 2-0 triumph over UC Merced on Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Field.
Mauk assisted Santander's first goal of the season 14 minutes into the contest, then added her first in the 24th minute with an assist from
Sophia Connell.
The Raiders (2-2-1 overall) set an aggressive tone, firing six of the game's first seven shots. Their next one, in the 34th minute, was a liner from
Cassie Robinson that hit the crossbar.

Jessie Selby faced eight shots and saved four to record her second shutout of the season and the Raiders' third.
The Bobcats, members of the California Pacific Conference, fell to 1-2-1.
SOU starts the CCC portion of its schedule on Friday against Evergreen (Wash.) and Saturday against Northwest (Wash.). Both matches are set for 3:30 p.m. starts at Raider Stadium.
