ASHLAND – Cambree Scott had 10 kills and four blocks to lead a balanced attack as No. 14-ranked Eastern Oregon collected a 25-19, 19-25, 25-21, 25-13 win over Southern Oregon on Saturday night at Lithia Motors pavilion.
Madison Morgan and Sade Williams recorded nine kills apiece and Breanna Shaffer contributed seven kills and 12 digs. Jet Taylor was in on six blocks and the Mountaineers (13-4 overall, 8-1 Cascade Conference) stuffed 11 as a team to hold the Raiders (7-7, 2-7) to a .119 attacking average and force 30 attacking errors.
EOU kept pace with first-place Corban, remaining one loss behind in the standings.
After SOU dominated the second set – taking control with seven straight points when it was tied at 8-8 – the Mountaineers fell behind 5-2 in the third but quickly recovered and limited SOU to nine kills in the frame.
In the fourth, they forced a couple early timeouts by claiming 11 of the first 12 points.
Hailey Van Well had a team-high 15 kills for the Raiders, while
Sadie Byrd was credited was in on seven of their eight blocks.
Simone Gordon chipped in 11 kills,
Hannah Stadstad had nine, and
Kadyn Jones picked up 22 digs.
The Raiders will be in Portland next week, playing Friday at Warner Pacific and Saturday at Multnomah.
