PORTLAND – No individual fireworks were necessary on one of the Southern Oregon women's basketball team's highest-scoring nights of the season Friday at Multnomah.
In an 85-49 win on Jim Skagen Court, the Raider bench delivered 44 points on 15-of-27 combined shooting to keep the team atop the Cascade Conference standings through the weekend. SOU will be awarded a forfeit victory Saturday with scheduled opponent Warner Pacific unable to compete due to Covid-19 issues.
Twelve different players added to the point total for the Raiders (16-2 overall, 9-1 CCC), who were firmly in control with a 24-point lead just a couple minutes into the second quarter.
Syd'Nee Fryer and
Kalei Iwami led the way with 12 points apiece, as Fryer totaled five rebounds and three steals and Iwami shot 5-of-9 with a pair of 3-point makes and a team-high five steals.
The Lions (3-14, 3-7) were doomed by 30-percent shooting and 24 turnovers.
They were also afforded little margin for error thanks to SOU's bevy of contributions.
Dominique Harding scored 10 points,
Danasia Allison recorded nine points, four assists and three steals, and
Clara Robbins had eight points, six rebounds and two steals, to name a few.
Kami Walk, the Raiders' leading scorer, was held without a field goal but was perfect on eight free-throw attempts and had seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks. The Raiders were nearly perfect as a team at the line, going 23-of-25, and shot at clips of 46 percent from the field and 44 percent from 3.
Elise Graham scored 11 and Alaygza Portis scored 10 for Multnomah.
The Raiders will gear up for a longer road trip next weekend, when they're scheduled to visit College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. They're currently a game up on EOU and Bushnell in the loss column.
