Southern Oregon notches another sweep of Wolves

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The No. 23-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team secured a road weekend split by easing past Walla Walla (Wash.) on Saturday night, 25-15, 25-12, 25-17 in Cascade Conference play at Windemuth Court.

The Raiders (14-6 overall, 8-5 CCC) have still never lost a set against the Wolves (0-13, 0-13) in 14 head-to-head meetings and completed a season sweep in this one. Hailey Van Well led the way with nine kills and two service aces, and Simone Gordon supplied seven kills on a .636 attacking while assisting three blocks.

SOU's defense stuffed the Wolves with a negative-.060 attacking average – they had 30 attacking errors compared to 24 kills – which marked the lowest clip for a Raider opponent this season.

Sadie Byrd assisted five of the team's eight blocks, Kayla Neidigh had 15 digs and Trinity Atuatasi chipped in 12 digs and four aces.

Setters Gwen Sheldon (13 assists, 4 digs) and Hannah Randall (9 assists, 1 ace) steered the SOU to a .238 attack.

The Raiders are back home next week to face Northwest (Wash.) on Friday and Evergreen (Wash.) on Saturday. Behind first-place Corban and Eastern Oregon, which are tied in first place with 12-1 records, they're one of four five-loss teams with nine matches left in the regular season.
