3 p.m. – Corban vs. Eastern Oregon (championship)
LA GRANDE – Southern Oregon dominated early but No. 4-ranked Corban righted the ship in a hurry to win 19-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 in the semifinal round of the Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank on Friday at Quinn Coliseum.
CCC Player of the Year Rylee Troutman had 19 kills on 45 swing for the Warriors (28-3 overall), who advanced to play top-ranked Eastern Oregon in Saturday's title match.
The Raiders (21-10) – coming off a first-round, five-set defeat of Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) in Friday's 9 a.m. match – raced out to a 9-1 lead in the first set, where they maintained control with a .333 attacking average. Over the next three sets, however, they hit .087.
SOU will await the reveal of the 48-team NAIA National Tournament field, scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday. The Opening Round will take place next Saturday on campus sites across the country, and hosting isn't out of the question for the Raiders, who were No. 29 in this week's NAIA coaches' poll.
Katie Vroman had 12 kills for the Raiders, matching the career-high total she established earlier in the day, and
Hailey Van Well had 11.
Sadie Byrd accumulated five kills and seven blocks, and
Hannah Randall had 36 assists and seven digs.
The Warriors hit .248 as a team, also getting 10 kills on 18 attempts from Allyson Reid.
