Raiders heat up to beat Simpson 111-83

ASHLAND Will Graves and Southern Oregon lit up Simpson (Calif.) for the team's highest point total in three seasons, scoring a 111-83 win on Tuesday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion.

Graves, a graduate transfer from Gonzaga, broke out for 22 points and shot 8-of-9 from the field while connecting on all four of his 3-pointers. The Raiders (3-2) shot 61 percent as a team, hitting more than half of their attempts for the third consecutive game.

Seven Raiders scored in double figures. Atmar Mundu, the reigning CCC Player of the Week, totaled 17. Mason Whittaker shot 4-of-4 to score 13, and Brett Hollins went 6-of-8 to join him off the bench with 12 more.

Tez Allen (13 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, 4 rebounds) and Josh Meyer (12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals) both filled up the box score. Cole McAninch added 10 points and five boards.

SOU was up 50-46 20 seconds into the second half before Graves bookended a 13-4 run with a mid-range jumper and a deep triple. The Raiders continued to tack onto their double-digit lead the rest of the way, shooting 21-of-30 in the period.

After combining to go 2-of-15 from 3 in his first three games as a Raider, Graves has gone 7-of-11 from beyond the arc in SOU's last two. He's scored 10-plus four games in a row.

The Raiders have averaged 95.3 points in their last three outings. They've shot 37-of-80 from 3 as a team during their homestand after going 13-of-52 on the road.

Javonntie Jackson scored 22 for the Redhawks, whose winning streak ended at three.

SOU plays its final non-conference game on Saturday against another California Pacific Conference opponent, visiting Cal Maritime for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
