SPRINGFIELD – Southern Oregon's playoff experience was on full display in a gritty 2-1 win over College of Idaho on Tuesday night to keep its season alive in the quarterfinal round of the Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank.

Facing the only team to defeat them since mid-September, the Raiders' attack stalled out in the middle of the match before delivering a flashy, decisive goal in the 73rd minute. Leveled at 1-1, Noah Addie got loose down the left side and passed to Alan Gaytan, who on his first touch set up a streaking Sam Walker to slide in for the game-winner at Les Schwab Sports Park.

The Raiders (13-5-1), seeded No. 5 in the tournament, advanced to play top-seeded and 21st-ranked Warner Pacific in Wednesday's semifinals. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Civic Park in Eugene.

They traded jabs early with the Yotes (11-5-2), who'd walked away from Raider Stadium with a 3-1 victory on Oct. 15 that ended SOU's six-game winning streak.

The Raiders struck first in the 13th minute when Gaytan received a pass from Adrian Villegas and lined it from right to left just inside the post from 15 yards deep. C of I answered two minutes later, as Caio Pereira finished up close after keeper Tom Baynard-Smith found him on a free kick from beyond midfield.

Chances were few and far between from that point until Walker supplied his 10th goal of the season.

"It wasn't our prettiest performance, but the desire to compete and grind together put us in a strong place to win the game against a very strong and experience C of I team," SOU coach Davie Carmichael said. "Our quality showed in some key moments with two very good goals."

The Raiders also got a lift from three-time all-conference defender Zak Woolley, who missed almost all of the regular season due to injury. He came on in the 68th minute and made a handful of key stops on the back line.

Anthony Armenta preserved the win with four saves. Baynard-Smith made five.

The Raiders have still never lost in the tournament; they're 8-0-4, but have been eliminated in penalty kicks four times. The semifinal appearance is their fourth consecutive, and they're seeking a spot in the championship game for the first time since 2018.

SOU and Warner Pacific tied their first matchup, 2-2, on the final day of the regular season.
