Hot-handed SOU finishes weekend sweep at WPU

PORTLAND Kami Walk scored a season-high 21 points and was a major factor in Southern Oregon's best 3-point shooting display of the year during a 68-54 win over Warner Pacific on Saturday at Bart Valentine Court.

Walk was perfect on three 3-point attempts, Kalei Iwami matched a career-high by hitting five 3s for the second time this month, and Brianna Phiakhamngon shot 3-of-5 from downtown. Together, they led the 23rd-ranked Raiders to 52-percent 3-point accuracy on 12 makes, getting one more from Yasmine Ahllamara.

By completing the weekend road sweep, SOU improved to 10-3 overall and 6-1 in the Cascade Conference. The Knights (0-12, 0-7) remained winless.

The Raiders took a 16-point lead into halftime by outscoring WPU 24-10 in the second quarter, where Iwami connected three times from beyond the arc and Walk twice.

Iwami and Phiakhamngon scored 16 points apiece. Walk added six assists, six rebounds and two steals to her totals. Clara Robbins went for six points and seven boards, and Danasia Allison had six assists.

In neutralizing 17 turnovers, the Raiders shot 54 percent from the field – their best clip in three years.

The win was their 10th in a row on WPU's home court.

They'll return home next week for back-to-back CCC contests, Friday against Bushnell and Saturday against Corban.
