OLYMPIA, Wash. – Evergreen (Wash.) scored twice in the final 12 minutes to stun the Southern Oregon men's soccer team in a 2-1 Cascade Conference decision on Saturday afternoon at Geoduck Pitch.
SOU's
Izaiha Bruce assisted
Sam Walker to break a scoreless tie in the 58th minute, but the Raiders (3-4 overall, 0-2 CCC) couldn't convert thereafter despite totaling 26 shots and 16 shots on goals – their highest-ever totals in a game they've dropped.
Zack Schmidt equalized in the 79th minute, and Kainoa Wong delivered the game-winner in the 83rd. Kaleab Merukia was credited with the assist.
The Geoducks improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the CCC. The victory was their first against SOU since 2015. Colin Hauser made it possible with 14 saves.
Walker's goal was his team-leading fifth of the year, but the Raiders left a two-game conference road trip without a point for the first time since their inaugural season.
They'll be on the road again next week, facing Oregon Tech at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
