PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The Southern Oregon men's soccer team created plenty of chances but failed to capitalize in a 1-0 loss to San Diego Christian (Calif.) on Monday afternoon at Embry-Riddle (Ariz.)'s Varsity Field.
The Raiders (2-2 overall) had 17 shots and seven on goal – the most they've compiled in the latter category without scoring in the eight-season history of the team.
SDCC (2-2-2) put just two shots on target but made one of them count, breaking a scoreless tie in the 57th minute on James William's goal. Kieran Chance and Ian Garcia were credited with assists on the play.
Goalkeeper Anthony Chavoya made the score stand with six saves.
Sam Walker, who tallied in Sunday's 4-1 win over Embry-Riddle, put all three of his shots on goal but Chavoya stopped each of them.
The Raiders play at home for the first time against Menlo (Calif.) on Saturday. It's the team's final nonleague tune-up before starting Cascade Conference play on Sept. 16 at Northwest (Wash.).
