The 16th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team bounced back from a sweep at the hands of 4th-ranked Eastern Oregon last night to take down College of Idaho 25-21, 25-15, 25-22 tonight at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
The win improves SOU to 16-5 overall and 9-4 in Cascade Conference play as they shift focus to Wednesday's home match with arch-rival Oregon Tech. College of Idaho dropped to 11-10 overall and 9-4 in conference play.
After holding off the Yotes in the opening set, the Raiders exploded offensively in Set 2 - hitting .485 in the set with 19 kills and only three errors. An ace by
Kayla Neidigh and a C of I error had the Raiders cruising at 18-9.
Marin Mackey finished off the set with a kill for the 25-15 victory.
In the final set, the Yotes jumped out to a 17-15 lead before a kill by
Hannah Stadstad tied the set and a combo block by
Carol Melo and
Sadie Byrd gave the Raiders the lead for good at 18-17. Mackey ended the match with her eighth kill.
Stadstad led the Raiders with 12 kills on 18 swings. Melo finished with 11 kills and
Megan Perry added nine kills. Byrd finished the match with seven blocks and six kills.
Anne Hite (20) and Victoria Mattos (19) combined for 39 assists for the Raiders and Neidigh had 15 digs.
Haley McUne had 13 kills to lead the Yotes.
