SOU falls 61-58 at Jessup after game-tying 3 waived off

ROCKLIN, Calif.Brett Hollins' deep 3-pointer at the buzzer left his hands a fraction of a second too late and was ruled no good after swishing through as Southern Oregon fell 61-58 to Jessup (Calif.) on Saturday night in the Bill Holtz Warrior Classic.

Hollins made the potential game-tying possession possible by stealing an inbounds pass with 17 seconds left. Out of a timeout, the Raiders rebounded two of their own misses before getting the ball to him five feet beyond the arc.

The lead changed hands 14 times, but the Warriors (2-1) took it home by finishing the game on a 16-7 run.

Senior forward Dominic McGarvey led the Raiders (0-2) with 17 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Teron Bradford added 13 points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Both Bradford and McGarvey hit three 3-pointers, and the Raiders made 10 as a team a night after going 3-of-16 from deep in a loss to Menlo (Calif.). They took their biggest lead at 51-45 with seven minutes left after Ethan Blythe and Bradford hit back-to-back 3s.

The Warriors regained control in transition, where they had a 19-7 advantage overall. During their game-ending run, they turned three steals into fast-break buckets. Anthony Enoh's second-chance layup put them ahead for good with 1:56 left.

Enoh finished with 13 points and eight boards off the bench. Their starting forward, Aydan Janssan, had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Hollins finished with nine points and six rebounds for the Raiders, who travel next week to Butte, Mont., to face Montana Western and No. 6-ranked Montana Tech.
