ROCKLIN, Calif. – Andrea Jovicevic dropped in a contested, flat-footed, fall-away 3-pointer with one second left to give Jessup (Calif.) a 55-52 nonconference win against No. 21-ranked Southern Oregon on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Arena.
Jovicevic's answered prayer landed her at 21 points, and she accounted for the Warriors' only three buckets of the fourth – all from behind the 3-point line. They improved to 7-1 and dropped the Raiders to 6-2.
SOU had gone scoreless for three minutes until
Kami Walk's basket inside tied the game at 52 with 51 seconds left.
Meghan McIntyre stole Jessup's ensuing inbounds pass, but her missed floater set the stage for Jovicevic's heroics.
Walk's contested shot in the corner for the potential tie on the other end was bothered by the defense and fell short at the horn.
She finished with 21 points, six rebounds and two steals. McIntyre had 18 points and two steals, and
Emma Schmerbach scored six. The rest of the Raiders combined to go 3-of-16 from the field, though they had a three-point lead until Jovicevic tied the game with a 3 near the six-minute mark.
SOU returns to Cascade Conference play next week, looking to improve its 2-0 record Friday at Evergreen (Wash.) and Saturday at Northwest (Wash.).
