SALEM – The Southern Oregon University beach volleyball team went 1-2 on Saturday, getting another win against Northwest (Wash.), to close out its debut weekend at the Corban Beach Courts.

The Raiders (2-3 overall) started the morning with a 5-0 loss to top-ranked Corban. A few hours later, they defeated NU for the second day in a row, 4-1, before dropping a 4-1 decision to Bushnell.

SOU's No. 2 pair of Taylor Jackson and Karina Oliveira collected the Raiders' lone victory against the Beacons, defeating Madi Trueblood and Roslyn McLellan in straight sets, 21-15 and 21-17. Against NU, they handled Caitlyn James and Kaitlyn Mickle by scores of 21-12 and 21-10.

The Raiders also got straight-set wins from their No. 1 pair, Madi Gray and Skyy Nihipali-Botelho, and their No. 4 pair, Addison Weckerle and Kiya Jackson, against the Eagles. Their No. 5, AC Reyes and Robin Anderson, won by forfeit.

"We had a really long day with three matches," SOU coach Paul Elliott said. "I'm pleased with the way we're growing as a team and can't wait to get back to practice Monday."
