Riley Donovan and the No. 9-ranked Southern Oregon softball team went into launch mode to finish off a four-game sweep of Providence (Mont.) on Saturday at University Field.
Donovan hit three home runs,
Rylan Austin hit one and
Cayla Williams piled on another as the Raiders took the third Cascade Conference game of the series, 18-1, and the non-conference finale, 8-0, finishing both in five innings via the eight-run rule.
They went to 16-4 overall and 8-1 in the CCC, outscored the Argos (0-11, 0-6) 45-4 in the series, and have won 11 of their last 12 games entering next Friday's doubleheader at William Jessup (Calif.).
Donovan went 6-for-6 with eight RBIs and seven runs scored on the day, adding a pair of doubles, and has stroked five of her seven home runs over SOU's last seven games. She hit two of them in Game 1, where Austin lifted the second home run of her career to plate three runs and Williams tacked on a three-run shot during the Raiders' 11-run third inning.
Deja Acosta contributed two hits and two RBIs,
Lindsey Stripling went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Williams was 3-for-3 with four RBIs in the opener. Williams also went four innings in the circle to earn the decision, upping her record to 7-2.
Katie Machado spun a two-hitter in Game 2, striking out four without a walk for her second complete game in as many days. She went to 7-1 on the season.
Stripling drove in two runs on her second double of the day,
Piper Love contributed another RBI double, and Williams and
Sarah Kerling both hit run-scoring singles in Game 2. Donovan's final blast went to the opposite field to score
Faith Moultrie, who chipped in a pair of hits, and give the Raiders an eight-run advantage in the bottom of the fourth.
SOU has gotten 10 of its last 11 wins by margins of at least six runs. The Raiders batted .510 with 53 hits, including 19 for extra bases, in the series.
Donovan, fresh off a CCC Player of the Week award, finished the set 10-for-13 with seven extra-base hits and 11 RBIs.
