ASHLAND – Southern Oregon attacked at a .542 average, the team's best in at least 15 years, in a swift 25-11, 25-13, 25-11 takedown of Walla Walla (Wash.) on Friday afternoon at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
The No. 19-ranked Raiders dropped in 47 kills with only two errors on 83 swings, taking their record to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the Cascade Conference. They've still never dropped a set against the Wolves (0-5, 0-4) in 15 all-time matchups.
Marin Mackey went for a team-high 11 kills and had six digs.
Tessa Frodge registered a season-high eight kills on 10 attempts. Neither committed an attacking error.
Junior setter
Vitoria Mattos kept the Raiders rolling with 23 assists. She also logged five service aces, three of which came during a 9-1 run in the first set that broke a 8-all tie.
Megan Perry tallied 10 kills and SOU got 23 digs between
Trinity Atuatasi (13) and
Kayla Neidigh (10) while leaving WWU at a .094 average. Femske Eising's eight kills led the Wolves.
The Raiders' seventh sweep of the season was over in an hour flat. They'll return to action at 5 p.m. Saturday to face Lewis-Clark State (Idaho).
