CALDWELL, Idaho – Defending national champion College of Idaho paid back Southern Oregon for an upset in Ashland with an 82-50 blowout Saturday evening at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
Since that loss on Dec. 1, the No. 3-ranked Yotes (18-2 overall, 13-1 Cascade Conference) have won 13 consecutive games and defeated their opponents by an average of 26 points. Drew Wyman, an All-American junior, was the catalyst of against the Raiders (11-8, 9-4) with 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, a night after scoring 23 in a 24-point win against No. 24 Oregon Tech.
Wyman knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 14 points over the first 15 minutes of the game, pushing C of I to a 40-22 halftime lead. Alex Germer (11 points), Tyler Robinett (10) and Samaje Morgan (10) joined him in double figures.
Dominic McGarvey logged team-highs of 11 points and six rebounds for SOU, shooting 5-of-9 from the field, and
Brett Hollins went 4-of-8 to score nine. The Raiders shot just 33 percent from the field, including a 7-of-27 mark from 3-point range.
Standing in fourth place, they're on the road again next week, seeking season sweeps of Warner Pacific and Multnomah.
