ASHLAND – No. 7-ranked Southern Oregon overpowered Multnomah from start to finish in a 25-18, 25-11, 25-17 decision on Friday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion to keep pace atop the Cascade Conference standings.
Senior outside hitter
Marin Mackey put down 11 kills on 20 swings and corralled eight digs, and senior middle
Linda Conceicao dominated the net with seven kills and nine blocks.
Mylena Testoni joined Conceicao on four of those blocks and also accumulated five kills and a match-high 12 digs.
The Raiders bumped their record to 22-3 overall and 16-3 in the Cascade Conference with three CCC matches left on the schedule. They'll attempt to stay tied in the loss column with Corban and Eastern Oregon when they play their last regular-season home match on Saturday against Warner Pacific.
The sweep was their 13th of the season. They went up 5-1 in the first set, 11-5 in the second and 11-1 in the third on the strength of a .375 attacking average and a 10-4 advantage in blocks.
Sadie Byrd had eight kills on 14 attempts.
Friley Curtiss and
Megan Perry both contributed six. In helping limit Multnomah to a .045 attacking average,
Kayla Neidigh reeled in 10 digs.
The Lions (2-21, 2-17) were led by JahNay Jardine's seven kills and Zoe Schuele's 12 digs and 12 assists. They remained winless in 18 all-time matchups against SOU.
The Raiders have won 31 consecutive matches against unranked opponents since the start of last season.
