SATURDAY'S MATCH
Championship – (1) Eastern Oregon vs. (3) Southern Oregon, 3 p.m.

LA GRANDE – The first two matchups with Corban ended in five-set frustration for Southern Oregon. The third, in Friday's semifinal round of the Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank, ended in a hurry with the No. 7-ranked and highly-motivated Raiders at their best.

SOU was all over No. 8 Corban in a 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 sweep on Friday night at Quinn Coliseum, avenging those regular-season losses that ultimately made the teams co-champions with Eastern Oregon. Hannah Stadstad pounded 12 kills as the centerpiece of an ultra-efficient .322 attack, and the Raiders bottled up Corban's .065 effort with nine blocks.

The Raiders (27-3 overall) – who started the day with a four-set quarterfinal win over Oregon Tech while Corban (23-5) enjoyed a bye – get a shot to take a trophy all for themselves on Saturday. They face No. 6 EOU at 3 p.m. in the championship match, making their first appearance in the final since defeating the Mountaineers back-to-back years in 2018 and '19.

The manner in which they won against the Warriors made the performance arguably their most impressive of the season. They never trailed in the first set, went up 13-6 in the second, and helped themselves to leads of 6-1 and 20-9 in the third.

Stadstad, who posted 28 kills on the day, hit at .409 efficiency. SOU's middles, Sadie Byrd (7 kills, 5 blocks) and Linda Conceicao (6 kills, 4 blocks), combined to commit only one error on 23 attacks. Megan Perry and Marin Mackey were solid again with seven kills apiece as Annie Hite (17 assists) and Vitoria Mattos (16 assists) dispersed 33 assists. Mylena Testoni pitched in seven digs and four blocks, and Kayla Neidigh had nine digs and four assists.

Corban, meanwhile, didn't get more than six kills from any of its attackers. Emma Bischoff, who led the team with 14 on a .300 average in the teams' last meeting, had more errors (8) than kills (6) this time.

The sweep was the Raiders' first of Corban since 2018, though they served for match point in the third set a couple times against the Warriors in September.

SOU won both of its regular-season meetings against EOU, the most recent a five-setter on Oct. 11 in La Grande. The Mountaineers, who swept College of Idaho in their semifinals, will be seeking their third consecutive tournament title.
