KLAMATH FALLS –
Morgan Baird scored 20 points and No. 4-ranked Southern Oregon hit the century mark for the first time in five seasons with a 106-63 win against Cal Maritime in the Lithia Classic on Friday afternoon at Danny Miles Court.
Baird hit her first seven attempts and finished 9-of-11 from the field with six rebounds for the Raiders, who shot 54% as a team in improving to 3-0. After clinging to a one-point lead through the first quarter, they outscored the Keelhaulers (1-4) 37-11 in the second and cruised from there.
Emma Schmerbach shot 7-of-8 to score 16 points, and
Bridgette McIntyre hit 3-of-5 3-pointers to score 11 with four steals.
Meghan McIntyre compiled 12 points, five assists and four steals.
SOU also got buckets from all eight players who came off a bench that combined for 45 points.
Mallory Williams paced that crew with nine points,
Sierra Scheppele and
Makayla Scurlock chipped in eight apiece, and
Shakia Teague-Perry knocked down all three of her shots.
The Raiders forced 27 Cal Maritime turnovers and turned them into 38 points.
Jaz Novelli and Aysia Santos both scored 14 for the Keelhaulers, who ended at a 37% clip from the field as a team.
SOU wraps up its stay in Klamath Falls with a matchup at 1 p.m. Saturday against UC Merced.
