OLYMPIA, Wash. – After sitting last week due to injury, All-American right-side hitter
Hannah Stadstad returned with 12 kills on 21 swings in No. 7-ranked Southern Oregon's 25-17, 25-13, 25-10 win against Evergreen (Wash.) on Friday night at the Costantino Recreation Center.
All three teams tied atop the Cascade Conference – SOU, Corban and Eastern Oregon – swept their opponents to improve to 18-3 in circuit play, meaning the championship will come down to Saturday, the final day of the regular season. Never in the history of the conference have three teams finished tied for first place.
The Raiders, who improved to 24-3 overall, were never in trouble as head coach
Josh Rohlfing matched
Paul Elliott for the program's all-time wins record with his 381st. They completed their third consecutive regular-season sweep of the Geoducks (4-21, 4-17).
Kayla Neidigh went for 18 digs in the performance, matching her highest three-set total of the season.
Annie Hite had 20 assists and
Vitoria Mattos logged 18 to pace a .379 attack.
Marin Mackey totaled nine kills, 10 digs and four blocks.
Linda Conceicao led the Raiders with five blocks – she also put down five kills on seven attempts – as they shrunk the Geoducks to .011 attacking efficiency.
Evergreen became the third consecutive SOU opponent, and 12th of the season, that has failed to hit .100. The Geoducks' leading attacking, Lucendy Perez, had only five kills.
SOU visits Northwest (Wash.), Corban travels to Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) and EOU hosts Warner Pacific on Saturday. To host the CCC Tournament next Friday and Saturday, the Raiders need a win and a Corban loss.
Northwest, which SOU swept in September, has been at its best of late and will be playing for a spot in the postseason. The Eagles knocked off College of Idaho and have taken both Corban and EOU to five sets over the last couple weeks.
The Raiders will be seeking their first CCC title since winning back-to-back in 2018 and '19.
