Raiders go cold late in 67-62 loss at Corban

SALEM – Southern Oregon's offense sputtered down the stretch of a 67-62 Cascade Conference loss to Corban on Friday night at the C.E. Jeffers Center.

Playing their third down-to-the-wire game in a row, the Raiders (5-5 overall, 0-4 CCC) were held to one field goal over the final nine minutes. It was a Liam Clark three-point play that cut Corban's edge to 65-62 with 55 seconds left, but they came up empty the rest of the way.

Luc Krystkowiak had 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting for the Warriors (6-4, 4-0), including 17 early to put them up 36-34 at halftime. Spivey Word scored 11 of his 16 in the second half.

Bryce Dyer led SOU with 14 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two assists. The sophomore shot out of the break on a personal 7-0 run to give the Raiders their largest lead at five points before their offensive struggles and a 17-4 Warriors spurt ensued.

The Raiders hit at 52% as a team – they were 22-of-35 before going cold down the stretch – but held themselves back with 18 turnovers and a 12-of-19 display at the free-throw line. Corban shot 50% and committed only seven turnovers.

During their active five-game winning streak, the Warriors have kept each of their opponents under 70 points.

Elijah Jackson scored nine for the Raiders. Khalil Chatman recorded eight points, five rebounds and five assists. Mason Whittaker added eight points.

The Raiders will play their 11th consecutive road game – and last before making their Lithia Motors Pavilion debut on Jan. 3 – at 5 p.m. Saturday in Eugene against Bushnell.
