SALEM – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team brought its record to 10-0 for the second time in team history with an 88-56 victory over Corban in Cascade Conference play Friday night at Tim Hills Court.
The No. 4-ranked Raiders surpassed the 80-point mark for the fourth time this season, a feat they accomplished only twice in 2023-24, and their 56% clip from the field was the team's best in eight years. Senior point guard
Meghan McIntyre helped them do it with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting, six assists, three steals and two rebounds.
McIntyre was one of three guards to match or exceed season-best scoring outputs for SOU (10-0 overall, 4-0 CCC):
Sierra Scheppele had 12 by hitting 4-of-6 3-pointers, and
Keeley Wright shot 4-of-7 to add 11.
The Warriors (4-6, 2-2) had no answer for
Morgan Baird in the paint either. The senior forward scored all 13 of her points on 6-of-6 shooting during the second and third quarters after missing three straight to start the night.
The Raiders built a 43-31 halftime lead and leaned on their defense to put the game away in the third quarter, where full-court pressure led to seven turnovers and 17% shooting for Corban. After going on a 10-0 run late in the second, they outscored the Warriors 20-8 in the third.
SOU held a 20-point lead with 3:38 left in the period when the bench took over behind Scheppele and Wright. Scheppele's fourth 3 gave the Raiders their largest lead at 35 midway through the fourth.
The Raiders forced 26 turnovers and posted 15 steals, getting three apiece from McIntyre, Wright and
Emma Schmerbach, who also supplied eight points.
Clara Robbins finished with five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
Bridgette McIntyre contributed nine points, hitting 3-of-5 attempts from 3.
The win was SOU's ninth in a row against Corban. Despite the lopsided loss, the Warriors' 42% mark from the field was the highest for a Raider opponent this season.
The Raiders tip off against Bushnell (4-6, 3-1 CCC) at 3 p.m. Saturday in Eugene.
