SOU downs Evergreen 99-60, moves back into 4th place

ASHLAND Dominic McGarvey paced five Raiders in double figures with 16 points and Khalil Chatman tallied a double-double as Southern Oregon capped a feel-good weekend offensively with a 99-60 victory against Evergreen (Wash.) on Saturday at Lithia Motors Pavilion.

Fourteen different players cracked the scoring column for the Raiders (14-10 overall, 12-6 Cascade Conference), who shot 54 percent in the first half to take a commanding 21-point lead. McGarvey finished 8-of-13 and collected five offensive rebounds, and Chatman posted 14 and 10 as the forwards led SOU to 44 points in the paint.

Freshman guard Brady Rice came off the bench and shot 5-of-7 with three 3-pointers to score a season-high 14 points, while Cole McAninch and Ethan Blythe both went 4-of-6 to add 11 and 10, respectively. Eight different Raiders contributed to the team's 3-pointer total of 13; Blythe, Casson Rouse and Mason Whittaker both made a pair.

A night after shooting 53 percent, the Raiders registered their second-highest point total of the season with assists on 25 of the 36 buckets. Brett Hollins accounted for a career-high eight of them to go with six rebounds, and Teron Bradford added six.

The win was SOU's 24th in a row against Evergreen (3-20, 3-16). Tyler Williford scored 13 of his team-high 17 for the Geoducks in the first half.

The Raiders have a critical week ahead on the road, visiting Bushnell on Friday and Corban on Saturday – the teams with which they are locked in a three-way tie for fourth place with four regular-season games remaining. They defeated both last month in Ashland.
