SALEM – The No. 22-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team's road work is complete. Next week, the Raiders will play for their first Cascade Conference regular-season title in seven years on their home court.
They set the stage Saturday by stretching their winning streak to 12 games and claiming an eighth consecutive CCC road victory for the first time in team history, 81-49 over Corban at Tim Hills Court.
Sierra Scheppele – who in the teams' first meeting broke SOU's record for 3-point makes in a game with 10 – shot 6-of-7 from 3 the second time around to score a game-high 20 points.
The Raiders were up 15 points by the end of the first quarter and 45-19 at halftime, ultimately matching their season-best with 14 triples as a team. They stand at 22-4 overall and 18-2 in CCC play, still one game behind first-place Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), which comes to Ashland at 3 p.m. next Saturday for the regular-season finale. Before that matchup, ninth-place Walla Walla (Wash.) visits SOU at noon Friday.
As SOU completed its fourth consecutive season sweep of Corban, sophomore forward
Eliza DiGiulio scored a career-high 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting, collected three rebounds and distributed three assists.
Meghan McIntyre had 12 points, five assists and two steals,
Mallory Williams hit three 3s,
Clara Robbins pulled down 10 rebounds, and
Izzy Hernandez went for eight points and four assists.
The Raiders assisted on a season-high 25 of their 29 buckets, finishing at 46 percent from the field, and had a 27-point advantage beyond the arc. The Warriors (8-18, 7-13) wrapped up at 32 percent from the field.
Corban became the 10th SOU opponent this season that has failed to crack 50 points. The Raiders are now allowing fewer points per game (52.9) than all but four teams in the NAIA.
