No. 10 SOU thumps Corban, goes to 14-3 in CCC

SALEM – No. 10-ranked Southern Oregon homered four times and dealt Corban its 25th and 26th consecutive losses in short order, winning 9-0 in six innings and 11-3 in five on Friday at Warrior Field.

Jordan Henderson and Kennedy Kila hit home runs in Game 1 and Hannah Clavelle and Hailey Seva went deep in Game 2 for the Raiders, who upped their record to 26-9 overall and 14-3 in the Cascade Conference. Seva, a junior right fielder, went 6-for-8 with four RBIs and three runs scored during the doubleheader, personally matching Corban's team hit total.

SOU pitcher Katie Machado two-hit the last-place Warriors (1-33, 0-17) in Game 1. Three batters reached base in her third shutout of the season, and only one of them moved past first. She struck out two and improved to 14-3.

Game 2 starter Mayze Menefee brought her record to 9-3, working around four hits, two walks and a pair of errors in another complete game. Only two of the runs she allowed were earned.

The Raiders led the opener 2-0 before striking for five runs in the fifth inning, where Kila capped their rally with her team-leading sixth home run. They put up another crooked number in the third inning of Game 2, scoring five with RBI singles from Kila, Seva and Kailer Fulton. Seva went on to launch a two-run homer in the fourth.

Fulton and Henderson both went 4-for-6 on the day, and the latter scored three times while doubling on top of her home run. Clavelle went 3-for-5 with three more runs.

The Raiders have won eight straight CCC games entering Saturday's twin bill against the Warriors, which has been moved up to a 9 a.m. start due to rain in the afternoon forecast.
