KLAMATH FALLS – No. 17-ranked Southern Oregon's lineup went into postseason mode by battering British Columbia with 13 hits in a 7-1 win that opened the Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank on Friday morning at Stilwell Stadium.

Sammie Pemberton went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, and Hannah Clavelle bookended the performance with a pair of RBI singles for the Raiders (35-15 overall). Seeded No. 4 in the double-elimination tournament, they advanced to play No. 5-ranked Oregon Tech, the top-seeded host, at 2 p.m. Friday.

UBC (26-20), the No. 5 seed, will play an elimination game against an opponent yet to be determined at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Thunderbirds starting pitcher Shae Sever, who threw a three-hit shutout against SOU on April 12, exited after recording just 10 outs and surrendering 10 hits. Clavelle's run-scoring single in the first and Sarah Kerling's RBI double in the second put in her in a 2-0 hole. With two runners on in the third, Pemberton's double to the fence plated one run and a throwing error on the play enabled two more to score.

Katie Machado became a 20-game winner by navigating through the four innings for the Raiders. She allowed three hits and a run before giving way to Mayze Menefee, who limited UBC to one hit during a nine-out save.

Piper Love, Jordan Henderson and Faith Moultrie added two hits apiece for the Raiders.

They'll seek their first win of the season against Oregon Tech, which claimed four matchups decided by seven combined runs in March. The winner will move on to play at 2 p.m. Saturday, while the loser will be in an elimination game at 9 a.m.
