Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | SOU Sports Information

SOU goes down 2-0 at No. 23 Westcliff

IRVINE, Calif. – The No. 23-ranked Westcliff (Calif.) men's soccer team struck first two minutes before halftime and scored again shortly after the break to land a 2-0 win over No. 22 Southern Oregon on Friday in a nonconference Top 25 showdown.

Facundo Palacio assisted Martin Slatsve in the 44th minute and Jordan Di Lonardo found Jose Urdiano Morales for the second goal in the 60th for the Warriors, who improved to 4-1.

They did it while holding the Raiders (3-2) without a shot on goal, becoming the first team ever to do so against SOU. The Raiders, who punched in five goals in their most recent outing and had been averaging seven on-target attempts per game, accumulated eight total shots.

The Warriors had 16 shots. SOU keeper Casey Ruvolo stopped three of the five that came his way.

The game was the final tuneup for the Raiders ahead of Cascade Conference play. They're at Raider Stadium next week to face Multnomah at 2:30 p.m. Friday and Warner Pacific at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
