SALEM – No. 24 Southern Oregon's defense held strong again but the attack couldn't break through in a testy 0-0 draw with Corban on Saturday at the Outdoor Athletic Complex.
The Raiders didn't allow a shot on goal for the second day in a row and the third time in four games. They put five of their own 15 shots on target, but goalkeeper Isaac Pureco sent each of them away as the Warriors became the first team to blank SOU in a Cascade Conference contest in a span of 13 games going back to last year.
The Raiders went to 6-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the CCC. Corban, which had last gotten a result against SOU in 2019, settled at 3-4-1 and 2-0-1.
The match featured 44 fouls between the teams and 11 yellow cards, seven of which were issued to the Warriors. Five seconds after Corban's final yellow, the Raiders got their last chance in the form of a
Mustafa Daggig header that sailed over the crossbar.
Sky Charley-Bolyard led the Raiders with two shots on goal. They generated nine of their shots after halftime.
The Raiders ended the weekend in second place on the table, two points behind 4-0 Carroll (Mont.). They return home next week to play Eastern Oregon on Friday and College of Idaho on Saturday. Both games begin at 2:30 p.m.
