ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon women's soccer team's Cascade Conference unbeaten streak is over, but its championship and NAIA National Tournament aspirations are still very much alive with two weeks left in the regular season.

The Raiders (9-2-1 overall, 6-1-1 CCC) will appear at Raider Stadium's Laurel Field for the last time in the regular season Friday against Corban (5-8-0, 2-6-0) and Saturday against Bushnell (7-3-2, 6-2-0), starting both games at noon. They enter the weekend owners of the second-best CCC winning percentage (.812), standing five points behind College of Idaho and two behind Eastern Oregon with a game in hand over both.

WEEKEND FESTIVITIES: Fans are encouraged to wear pink on Friday for Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Admission is free for everyone on Saturday, which will be a "Red Out" theme in addition to Senior Day and SOU's annual Latino Day. The festivities will include a beer garden, taco truck, Latin music and more.

LAST WEEK IN REVIEW: The Raiders took down their highest-ranked victim in program history last Friday, securing a 3-2 decision at No. 4 College of Idaho that ended the Yotes' conference winning streak at 32 games. After giving up the first goal in the 20th minute the Raiders got two quick ones before halftime from Frida Vargas and Tori Lasch, and Sierra Sam Fong gave them a two-goal lead in the 72nd by knocking in a penalty kick. A day later at Eastern Oregon, they fell 2-1 as Peyton Jacaway converted an equalizing PK in the 65th minute and the game-winning PK in the 78th. Miller Bertani had given SOU the initial lead 15 minutes into the contest by heading in Macie Yannoni's penalty kick.

NAIA RANKINGS: For the first time this season, the Raiders received votes in last week's NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll at No. 34 overall. More importantly – at least for NAIA Tournament selection resume purposes – their win at C of I boosted them 10 spots to No. 15 in this week's NAIA RPI computer rankings. They're also currently No. 4 in the NAIA West ARC rankings, behind only Embry-Riddle (Ariz.), C of I and Westcliff (Calif.).

STANDLEY NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Senior goalkeeper Brittany Standley was voted the CCC Defensive Player of the Week for the key role she played in SOU's upset of C of I. She faced 22 shots and made a career-high eight saves, including five in the second half. Standley collected four more saves at EOU, giving up no goals outside of the PKs. Her season save rate of 81.6% is the third-best in the conference and her goals-allowed average of 0.75 ranks second.

BRIEFLY:
  • The Raiders have outscored opponents 38-10 overall and 28-7 in conference play. Their goals total is already higher than in any season since 2019, when they scored 40, and their goals average (3.2) is the second-highest in team history.
  • Three Raiders are among the top-12 on the CCC individual goals leaderboard: Abby McKean (7), Brooklyn Hayes (6) and Frida Vargas (5). Vargas also ranks fourth in assists (5), and in conference play Hayes has accumulated the sixth-most points (13) of any player.
  • SOU is 5-1-1 at home with a 3-0-1 mark in conference games.
  • Dating back to 2019, the Raiders are unbeaten in 47 consecutive games in which they've scored multiple goals.

ABOUT CORBAN: The Warriors are currently outside of the playoff picture at 11th on the CCC table, having picked up their only circuit wins against Evergreen (Wash.) and Walla Walla (Wash.). Sophomore Maya Alston has scored eight of their 13 goals. SOU won last year's matchup 3-0 in Salem and is unbeaten over the last five. Corban leads the all-time series, 21-13-4.

ABOUT BUSHNELL: Sitting in fourth place, the Beacons have already broken the team record for CCC wins in a season. Only one of those, however, was against a team with a winning conference record, and they'll face some true tests down the stretch with a five-game winning streak on the line. Freshman Elidia Cervantes Carlos has given them an offensive boost with six goals and two assists, and keeper Ana Augusto boasts an impressive save rate of 77.3%. The Raiders have never lost to Bushnell, standing at 19-0-2 in the series, and have only given up one goal to the Beacons in the last 10 years.
