SOU's regular-season win streak halted by Montana Tech

BUTTE, Mont. – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team's regular-season winning streak finally came to an end at 42 games with a 67-52 loss to Montana Tech in the opener for both teams Friday afternoon at Kelvin Sampson Court.

The No. 15-ranked Raiders trimmed a 15-point deficit to five midway through the fourth quarter before the Orediggers ended the night with 10 unanswered on the first day of the Peggy Sarsfield Basketball Weekend.

Senior forward Hadley Humpherys put up 12 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists for Tech, spearheading a defense that forced 18 turnovers and limited SOU to 28% shooting from the field. Brooke Badovinac added 13 points and three steals and Avery Carlson came up with four more steals.

Eliza DiGiulio paced the Raiders with 19 points, going 7-of-14 from the field and 3-of-5 from 3-point range. The senior forward scored nine of those in the fourth quarter to get her team back in the game.

Freshman guard Sage Winslow, a Crater High product, impressed in her collegiate debut with 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds off the bench. She pulled down six of those boards on the offensive end.

SOU forced 16 turnovers but couldn't take advantage like the Diggers, who received votes in the NAIA Top 25 preseason poll. They mounted a 25-6 advantage in points off turnovers.

Bridgette McIntyre chipped in seven points, six rebounds and three assists for the Raiders, whose regular-season win streak dated back to Jan. 13, 2024.

They'll remain in Butte to play Montana Western at 6 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday.
