OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Southern Oregon University volleyball team returned to the win column with its most efficient performance yet in a 25-15, 25-11, 25-11 drubbing of Evergreen (Wash.) on Saturday at the Costantino Recreation Center.
Maya Watters needed only 26 attacks to record 15 kills and
Friley Curtiss racked up 11 on 15 swings, leading the Raiders to a .437 attacking average that was their best in 48 outings dating back to last season.
Annie Hite conducted the offense with 20 assists, four service aces and four digs, while
Mia Jaeger added 17 assists.
Andressa Ribeiro Soares (7 kills, 11 digs),
Ane Tuinauvai (4 kills, 3 digs) and
Lanie Snow (3 kills) didn't commit an error on 29 combined attacks.
Tessa Zimmermann chipped in seven kills with three assisted blocks.
The Raiders, who also got 12 digs and two aces from
Tais Vega, improved to 7-10 overall and 4-6 in the Cascade Conference. They took over sole possession of eighth place and remain just two wins outside of the top-four in the standings.
The Geoducks turned in a .013 clip, falling to 1-13 and 1-9. They've lost seven consecutive matchups against SOU.
The Raiders start the second half of the conference schedule at home next week, facing Walla Walla (Wash.) at noon Friday and No. 14-ranked Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
