ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's Asher Ruchti has been voted the McDonald's Cascade Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network, following a championship effort over the weekend at the Lucha Open.

Ruchti, a senior from Springfield and the NAIA's No. 2-ranked 197-pounder, went 4-0 during SOU's stay in Douglasville, Ga. After opening with a technical fall, he won three consecutive tight decisions – by one point, by two points, and by sudden victory in the title match against No. 5-ranked Gio Jackson of tournament host Life (Ga.).

Ruchti improved to 6-0 on the season. Since joining the Raiders last year, the All-American has won 38 of 45 matches.

He and the Raiders are off until Dec. 4, when they'll travel to Redding, Calif., to work on their 1-0 dual record against Simpson (Calif.) and San Francisco State.
